Spring Update 1

In English, children have been learning about poetry, play scripts, traditional tales and instruction writing.

We innovated a seaside poem and wrote our own versions.

We created comic strip plans to support writing a play script for a scene in Little Red Riding Hood.

We learnt about and practised using inverted commas and wrote a new happy ending for the Gingerbread man!

Finally, we explored writing instructions, and we loved following the instructions to make yummy Rainbow fruit kebabs!

In Maths, we have been working hard to master counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and using this knowledge to help to begin multiplying and dividing.

We have also enjoyed exploring the mass and comparing the weight of different objects.

In science we have been focussing on identifying different materials and their properties. We helped the Gingerbread Man find waterproof materials to help him cross the river safely!

In Geography, we have been comparing the physical and human features of Godalming and Japan. We enjoyed learning some fun facts about Japan and were champions at completing the “Who wants to be a millionaire?” quiz questions – winning 1 million yen!

Spectacled Bears have many creative talents, but below you will see some fantastic Sunflower paintings in the style of Van Gogh from one of our Art lessons and some kippah designs from one of our RE lessons about Judaism.
