Busbridge Infant School's Learning Culture
At the heart of our school are our core values: Respect, Resilience, Creativity, and Collaboration. These values shape everything we do and guide how we learn, work, and grow together.
Challenge lies at the centre of our high expectations, ensuring that every child’s individual needs are met — both academically and emotionally. Our dedicated staff provide a nurturing and supportive environment where everyone is encouraged to look after one another and promote wellbeing across the school community.
We are proud to have a Home School Link Worker and an ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) who offer valuable support for our families and pupils. They provide quality sessions and guidance to help children and families during times of difficulty, supporting emotional wellbeing, resilience, and positive engagement with school life. Together, they strengthen the partnership between home and school and ensure every child receives the care they need to thrive.
We believe that mistakes are a vital part of learning. By practising new skills and reflecting on feedback, children develop a positive Growth Mindset — understanding that effort, perseverance, and learning from experience help us all grow and succeed.
Developing strong social skills is also a key part of our curriculum. We know that all children sometimes make mistakes in their behaviour, and we use these moments as opportunities for reflection and growth. Through calm, supportive conversations, we help children understand the impact of their choices and guide them to ‘restore’ and ‘repair’ situations. This reflective approach helps our pupils learn empathy, responsibility, and respect for others.
