Busbridge Pre-school is available to children as soon as they turn three-years-old. We welcome children who are in receipt of 30 extended Free Early Education hours funding (FEE) or Universal 15 hour funding although we encourage the latter to attend for a minimum of 18 hours to help them settle into a routine.
We intend to give children confidence and freedom of choice before they enter Reception and to ensure that each child has a smooth transition to Reception feeling happy and excited to learn and grow. The Pre-school is situated inside our wonderful school grounds and follows the schools expectations, policies and procedures. The Bear Cubs (our Pre-school class name) are located in a purpose-built classroom with a large outside area which is securely fenced. They also have access to the school hall for movement sessions and lunch, the large playground and field, the on-site Woodland area and cooking room. Pre-school has been set up to reflect a high quality Early Years learning environment which aligns with the school's vision; "The Continual Pursuit of Excellence".
It ensures children are able to access many areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum both inside and outside, developing their independent skills to choose where they would like to play. Our provision is enhanced in many areas supporting the children’s characteristics of effective learning and interests, allowing them free choice and the opportunity to extend their play through open-ended resources.
We are delighted to offer our Pre-school children exclusive indoor and outdoor spaces, designed especially for our youngest learners, alongside access to the wider school facilities and grounds. This allows our children to learn and play in a calm, nurturing environment, while gradually becoming familiar with the wider school—helping them feel confident and school-ready.
