House system

At Busbridge Infant School, all children and staff (with the exception of the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher) are allocated to one of our school houses. The houses are named after much-loved bear characters from classic children’s literature: Paddington, Baloo, and Rupert.

Each house has two Year 2 House Captains, elected democratically each term, who take on the important role of reading out the names of children in their house who have successfully completed their achievement card during our weekly celebration assembly.

House points are totalled and shared in the weekly Celebration Assembly, where the winning house is proudly awarded the trophy, decorated with their house ribbons. This system encourages everyone to aim high in their learning, with mutually agreed goals set for different house point milestones — celebrating effort, teamwork, and achievement across the school.

Our first milestone this year was 50 points where the whole school democratically voted to choose their learning partner for the day.

Our second milestone this year was 120 points where the whole school democratically voted to have an additional afternoon of art. During this session, the children created pieces for the Library art competition and the Godalming in Bloom art competition.

Our final milestone this year was 200 points where the whole school democratically voted to have supervised class access to VR Headsets for the week.

Paddington was the overall winner for 2026. They enjoyed a house disco on the last day of term with Mrs Jones and Mrs Chalk.
