Summer Update 1
English
This term in English, we’ve been exploring the world of poetry and rhyming! The children have enjoyed listening to and creating rhyming poems, building their vocabulary and confidence along the way. We’ve also loved welcoming parents into class for our Stay and Read sessions—it’s been wonderful to see you and share our learning. Thank you for getting involved and helping foster a love of reading!
Maths
In Maths, we’ve been focusing on number and place value. The children have been working on writing numbers in both numerals and words, ordering numbers, and using dienes equipment to represent tens and ones. We’ve also explored capacity, comparing and measuring using different sized containers—great hands-on learning!
Art
This term, we’ve been learning the new skill of weaving. It’s been fantastic to see the children show resilience and collaboration—two of our key school values—as they developed their fine motor skills and creativity through this intricate art form.
Geography
We’ve been busy globe-trotting in Geography, learning all about the seven continents and the five oceans. The children have loved singing our catchy continents song—ask them to sing it for you! It's a fun and memorable way to help them retain what they’ve learned.
Science
In Science, we’ve been learning all about plants, including different types of trees and flowers. The children have been busy labelling the parts of plants and discovering the important jobs each part does to help the plant grow and survive.
